Obituary of Steven S. Weikel

Steven S. Weikel, "Pollock" age 51, a lifetime resident of Aston Mills, PA, died after a 2 year courageous battle with pancreatic cancer, on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at home, surrounded by his loving family. Steven was a 1982 graduate of Sun Valley High School. Steve was a heavy equipment transporter with Luongo's Towing for the last 15 years. He was a parishioner of the Church of St. Francis De Sales and an alumni of St. Francis De Sales Elementary School. Steven was a devoted member and former board of directors member of the Lenni Athletic Club. He was an outdoorsman who loved fishing, hunting and spending time at his home in the Poconos. Steve traveled many times to Canada to enjoy the mountains and live one with nature and many times took his son to share the experiences. Most of all, family was the most important thing to Steve. He had a special love and cherished spending time with his grandchildren, and was affectionately known as Silly Pop. Steven was loved by all and will be dearly missed. Son of the late Samuel J. "Big Sam" Weikel, Jr., who died March, 2014. Survivors: Wife of 31 years: Jill Ryan Weikel Son: Ryan (Shannon) Opdenaker Mother: Wanda Trzeciak Weikel Grandchildren: Ava Rose, David and Juliana Sister: Eileen (Jozef) Brzazgon Brothers: Samuel (Maureen), Joseph (Lori), and John (Michelle) Weikel Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral Mass: Thursday, July 7th, at 11:00AM at The Church of St. Francis De Sales, 35 New Rd, Aston, PA 19014. Visitation: Wednesday, July 6th from 6:00-9:00PM at Minshall Shropshire-Bleyler Funeral Home, Ltd., Middletown (Rte. #352) & Knowlton Rds., Middletown Twp., Media, PA 19063 and Thursday, July 7th from 9:30-10:45AM at The Church of St. Francis De Sales.
