Obituary of Gregory B. Holloway

1971 – 2016 Gregory B. Holloway, age 45, of Aston PA, passed away Saturday, August 27, 2016. Greg was a Union Journeyman Carpenter with Affiliates 173 and 214. Greg was born in Phoenixville, PA, on July 5, 1971, to the late Douglas Roy and Deborah Ann (Lawson) Holloway. He graduated from Oley Valley High School and shortly after enlisted in the U.S. Navy as a Boatswain’s Mate on the USS Brisco. He served honorably for four years and returned home to the Reading area to continue his trade as a builder and restoration of structures. He received an Associate’s Degree from Harrisburg Area College and became fully certified as a Scaffolder and in Masonry. Throughout Greg’s life, he was dedicated to the care of dogs and to his best friend, Godfrey the Golden Retriever, who passed in February 2014. He worked in many professional kennels throughout the years to include, Bobby and Jane Fowlers’ in Birdsboro, PA., Nina Fetter of Sirius Kennels in OH, Lisa and Harry Miller of Kiarry Kennels in Maryland, and Doug and Rita Holloway of Rainbow Kennels in Newark, DE. Greg enjoyed playing pool and was passionate about golf. He loved golf so much that when the weather was awful outside, he would set up a green inside and putt his way through his apartment. Greg and his fiancé, Sharon, enjoyed traveling, reading, going to the movies, spending time with friends, and attending concerts and music festivals. Greg is survived by his fiancé, Sharon Prudente of Aston, PA; three sisters, Christina A. Holloway (Bruce Strother) of Dover, DE; CMSgt Jennifer M. (Trent) Hellwig of the U.S. Air Force; Linnea E. Holloway Marquis of Woodbury, CT; one brother Douglas R. (Rita) Holloway of Newark, DE; nieces and nephews, Ashley A. Hellwig of Tuscaloosa, AL; Micah L. Hellwig of Waynesville, OH; John A. Marquis of Mesa, AZ; Donald J. (Diane) Marquis of Woodbury, CT; Trisha D. Marquis of Inverness, FL; several loving aunts, uncles, and cousins. Memorial Services: Saturday, 11:00 AM at Minshall Shropshire-Bleyler Funeral Home, Ltd., Middletown, (Rte. #352) & Knowlton Rds., Middletown Twp., Media, PA 19063. A celebration of Greg's life will follow at the Concordville Inn, Glen Mills, PA. Visitation: Saturday after 10:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment: Private. In lieu of flowers, Greg was a lover of dogs and wanted every dog to have a loving home.
