Obituary of John William Laufer, Jr.

John W. Laufer, Jr. “Tiny” age 92, died on Monday, January 23, 2017, at Riddle Village, Middletown Twp. , Media, PA. Born in Philadelphia, PA, Jack had been a resident of Glenolden, PA, before moving to Middletown Township, where he has resided for the past 54 years. He was a graduate of Glen-Nor High School, Class of 1942, where he starred in both basketball and track. Jack later graduated from University of Pennsylvania Wharton School, where he received a BS in Economics. Mr. Laufer was a veteran of the United States Army in WWII, where he served in the European and African Theaters. He was awarded a Bronze Star, and a combat infantry badge. Mr. Laufer participated in the liberation of the Dachau concentration camp. Mr. Laufer had been employed by Scott Paper Company as an accountant for 36 years, until his retirement in 1986. Jack was a member of the Media Church of Nazarene. An avid Philadelphia sports fan of all the teams, he was a sport memorabilia collector and was a member of the Philadelphia Athletics Historical Society and enjoyed vacationing in Cape May, NJ. Survivors: Wife Marian Parkes Laufer Daughter: Louise (Paul) Hummel Son: John W. (Victoria) Laufer, III. Also survived by grandchildren: Lauren and Emily Laufer and Natalie and Noah Hummel Funeral Services followed by interment will be private. Memorial contribution to: Media Church of Nazarene, 1810 N.
