Obituary of Joan Burks

Joan Mulvey Burks, age 94, of Chester Heights, PA, formerly of Philadelphia, PA, died Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at Broomall Rehab. & Nursing Center of Broomall, PA. Joan was a graduate of West Catholic High School, Class of 1940. Joan was with the Sisters of Christian Charity for 30 years. She was a teacher for Garnet Valley High School from 1974-1983, retiring in 1983, after 41 years of service. Joan was a tax collector for 15 years with the borough of Chester Heights, PA. Wife of the late Reed Burks. Survivors: 16 nieces and nephews 3 Step-Children 4 Grandchildren Funeral Mass: Monday, May 1st at 10:30AM at the Church of St. Mary Magdalen, 2400 N. Providence Rd., Media, PA 19063. Visitation: Monday, May 1st after 10:00AM at the church. Interment: St. Thomas the Apostle Cemetery.
