Obituary of Walker L. Carter

Walker L. “Baby” Carter, Age 62, of Media, PA, formerly of Chester, PA, died suddenly on Wednesday, June 21, 2017.  Walker was a graduate of Chester High School, Class of 1974, where he was inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame. He was a graduate of Widener University, Class of 1978.  Walker was a wide receiver with Widener University and went on to win the Title 3 Championship.  After graduation, Walker coached track and football and with his leadership they won the National Championship.   Walker’s athletic talents lead him to play professional football with the Philadelphia Stars and then drafted with the Buffalo Bills.

Mr. Carter was a Lineman and Emergency Response Trouble Man employed with Peco Energy for more than 30 years.  He was devoted to his job and well respected by his coworkers.

Walker was and all-around faithful man and was devoted to his love for his Heavenly Father Jehovah. He was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Havertown, PA, where he was an Elder and Service Overseer.

Walker was a Master Scuba Diver.  He enjoyed traveling, and watching movies with his daughters. Walker was known for making you laugh and his famous raspberry kisses. Most of all, he was a devoted son, husband, father, brother and uncle and will be sadly missed.

Son of the late Walker W. Carter and brother of the late Nathaniel Carter.

Wife of 31 years: Claudette Coleman Carter

Mother: Susie A. Williams Carter

Daughters: Wanisha (Muhammad) Bey and Jaleesa Carter

Sister: Osceola Williams

Brothers: Robert (Marie) Williams, David Carter, Samuel Carter, Stephen (Robin) Carter and Darryl Carter

Also survived by numerous Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephew and In-Laws

Funeral Service: Saturday, June 24th at 11:00AM at the Minshall Shropshire-Bleyler Funeral Home, Ltd.   Middletown (Rte. #352) & Knowlton Rds., Middletown Twp., Media, PA 19063.

Visitation: Saturday, June 24th after 9:00AM at the funeral home.

Interment: Private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 1501 Lawrence Rd. Havertown, PA 19083.
