Obituary of John W. Hanrahan

John William Hanrahan, Sr. "Jack", age 81, of Glen Mills, PA, died at home on Thursday, January 15, 2015, surrounded by his family. Jack was a former resident of Springfield, PA and Radford, VA, before moving to Glen Mills in 1998. Jack was born and raised in South Philadelphia, and a graduate of Southeast Catholic High School. He was a Veteran of the US Army, serving as a Sergeant from 1953 to 1955. Jack was a Philadelphia Police officer for 10 years. He began his second career at Plymouth, Inc., as the Plant Manager, retiring after 30 years of service in 1998. Jack was a parishioner of the Church of St. Thomas the Apostle, Glen Mills, PA. He was an avid reader and history buff who especially enjoyed World War II particulars. Jack was devoted to his family, and cherished spending time with his children and grandchildren. Jack was the devoted husband of 44 years to the late Elizabeth Neely Hanrahan, who died in 1997; grandfather of the late Ryan Hanrahan SURVIVORS His Children: Kathleen Prokop (Thomas), Joseph Hanrahan (Maureen), John Hanrahan (Chona) and Elizabeth Goebel (Bruce) Grandchildren: Joseph, Thomas, Lauren, Kelsey, Blake, Brian, Elizabeth, Kaitlyn and John Great-Grandsons: Julian and Hayden Sister: Maureen Drought, who he lived with for the last 17 years Nephews: Michael, Kevin, Brian and Sean Drought Funeral Mass Tuesday 10:30 AM, at the Church Of St. Thomas the Apostle, 430 Valleybrook Road, Glen Mills, PA Visitation Tuesday 9:15 – 10:15 AM, at the church Interment Edgewood Memorial Park, Glen Mills, PA Memorial Contributions may be donated in memory of John Hanrahan to Main Line Health Home Care and Hospice, 240 Radnor Chester Road, Suite 100, Radnor, PA 19087; or at www.mainlinehealth.org/homecare
