Obituary of Richard J. "Dick" Williams

Richard J. "Dick" Williams, age 87, of Aston, PA, died Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at home. Dick was born in Wilkes Barre, PA, and was a graduate of Plains Memorial High School. Mr. Williams served in the U.S. Navy in World War II, and was transferred to a U.S. Marine unit during the occupation of Japan, and then he returned to the Navy for an honorable discharge. Dick attended Wyoming Valley School of Aviation and was employed by Durham Aircraft, Capital Airlines and United Airlines over a span of 14years. Dick changed careers in 1964, working for United Scale Models in Concordville, PA, and USA Models in Colwyn, PA, in a managerial position, retiring in 1990. In his retirement, Dick enjoyed wood carving and was a member of the William Rush Wood Carvers Club. He was a member of Mt. Hope United Methodist Church, serving on the Board of Trustees and the Administrative Board of the church. Dick was a member of the Aston Township Lions Club since 1977 and the Aston American Legion Post #926. Son of the late Henry and Catherine (Bowen) Williams. Survivors: Wife: Margaret Hewitt Williams Daughters: Linda (Richard) McGuire and Leslie Leahy Brother: Thomas H. Williams Grandchildren: Kevin (Stefanie) McGuire, Kristi (Mark) Steficek, Kelly and Terry Leahy Also survived by a niece and a nephew Memorial Service: Monday at 11:30AM at Minshall Shropshire-Bleyler Funeral Home, Middletown (Rte. # 352) & Knowlton Rd.
