I had the pleasure of caring for Dory at TSC. She would always greet me with a smile and make me laugh with her clever jokes, and I admired her outlook on life despite her challenges. Dory was a true inspiration. To the family- I am so sorry for this great loss and you will all be in my thoughts and prayers. May her memory be a blessing.
I was an aid to Dory for a couple of months and she made an incredible impact on me in such a short amount of time. The way she'd articulate and set up a punch line to a funny crude joke filled with love always kept me laughing. The fact that she knew exactly what she wanted down to the littlest detail like, three ice cubes in her coffee and that one special pillow to be on top of all the other pillows was very empowering. Her wits and ability to let herself feel and express her happiness, sadness, and boredom all while remaining with a smile on her face at the end of the day was and still is enlightening. After the rain there's always sunshine, and Im certain that brighter days are soon to come.
Sending much love virtually to Nancy & Dennis Shea. Dory will always be remembered.
I am very sorry for your loss. I was a neighbor of Dory's family when she was very young and lived in Lansdowne, Delaware County.
I have such wonderful memories spending time with Cousin Dory when we were little girls. There were lots of summer sleep overs, birthday parties and dress up days with fun make-up, musical sing alongs, card games and Nana's colorful jewelry. Dory was a FORCE on this earth with a heart & soul bigger than this world. Incredibly confident and a wit that was tough to match. Dory was pure LOVE. Sending heartfelt condolences to the Shea family during this time. - With Love, Cousin Tracy Shea
Dory's strong spirit will live eternal. Her smile missed, but Dory will forever be remembered and loved. We watched you from birth and it was our blessing to journey life together. Rest in peace. Dory, our junior sorority sister, we will miss you.
Eternal light shine upon you. Prayers. Dot Pollock
Dory and I spent much time together during her time at Penn State. She had a seat of honor in my office and often spent many hours sitting and chatting or doing work. She taught me and her fellow students and other administrators much about how to treat people with physical differences. She advocated and taught others to advocate on behalf of those with differences of all kinds. We laughed, we cried, we argued, we grew. Dory always gave everything she did her all and did it with her trademark grin, sense of humor and occasional breakdowns (we had a running joke that it was week 5 of the semester and time for her to cry in my office). She was a remarkable young woman who taught me much and for that I am grateful. She accomplished more than most in her short time on this planet and I am honored that she shared some of her time with me. I am forever changed and she will be sorely missed.
Dory reminded me of a little innocent child living in a grown up woman’s body . She was full of life and so much love coming out of her. She was so great with my three grandsons. She offered so much fun and laughter to them and they loved her for it. I will truly miss Dory and I wish that she will Rest In Peace.
Oh God. This is just so hard to see. I loved that powerful, smart..., determined, feisty, passionate girl. Her laugh will echo in my mind for the rest of my life. I cannot image how you are feeling right now. She loved her family with such devotion. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Just keep swimming.
Dory was, by definition, a wonder; "a cause of amazement and admiration; a marvel. " Both of her grandfather's ADORED her; she had them wrapped around her finger with her winning ways. One made her treasures and one had the dance of his life with her on his 50th wedding anniversary. Dory never met a baby cousin she didn't spoil. She loved parties and we loved
that she was there to make it better. I will miss her laugh, her determination, her brilliant mind and that humor. She was a "wonder", and we were all in awe of her.
