Obituary of Geraldine L. Racz

Geraldine L. Racz, 90, of Upland, PA, died February 17, 2025 at Riddle Memorial Hospital in Media, PA.

She was born October 8, 1934 in Gallitzin, PA, daughter of the late John and Caroline Watters (Pierzchala). Mrs. Racz was preceded in death by her husband, Francis Racz, whom she married November 4, 1955, two sons, Francis (Frank) and Joseph, and her sisters, Eleanor Watters and Audrey Watkins.

She is survived by her daughter, Debra Racz Zimmerman (Edward) with whom she lived, and son, Donald Racz (Carol Zalesak) of Richmond, TX; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Thomas Watters of Duncansville, PA and John Watters (Jack) of Hollidaysburg, PA.

Gerry, affectionately known as “Nan,” “Grandma,” “Gigi,” and “Granny,” loved the Lord and spent much time daily in prayer for her family, friends, and those she knew of that had a need. She was an avid Bible reader and was a force to be reckoned with when it came to a Bible quiz. She faithfully supported Rendille children (East Africa) for uniforms, tuition and books, so that they could attend school. She was always ready to speak of what the Lord Jesus Christ did for her, always willing to share her life verse: “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths” (Proverbs 3:5-6).

She was devoted to her family and loved her times with her grandchildren and great- grandchildren, watching them grow, sharing in their activities, and listening to their jokes. She was a true fan of the Great American Family Network (especially the mysteries) and Sudoku.  She was a member of the Bible Presbyterian Church of Marcus Hook, PA. She was genuine and will be sorely missed.

Friends and family will be received on Friday, February 21, 2025 from 9:00 to 10:45 am at the Minshall Shropshire-Bleyler Funeral Home, Middletown (Rte. #352) & Knowlton Rds., Middletown Twp., Media, PA 19063. Service is at 11 am with the Rev. Keith Coleman officiating.

At the request of the family, in lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the Marcus Hook Bible Presbyterian Church (P.O. Box 2022,
Boothwyn, PA 19061) or to the Independent Board for Presbyterian Foreign
Missions (P.O. Box 1346, Blue Bell, PA 19422) in Gerry’s memory.
