Obituary of Lola M. Peterkin

With bittersweet hearts, we announce the passing of our dear mother Lola Mae (Goldsborough) Peterkin who went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on February 21 at the age of 95.

She will be sorely missed by her six children and their spouses: David Peterkin (Kathi), Melody Bell (Bob), Daniel Peterkin (Karen), Ruth Pubusky (Myron, deceased), Carol Davey (Rob), and James Peterkin (Janet); also, her 16 grandchildren: Joshua (Karen), Justin, Amy (Andrew), Megan (Mark), Alison (Tristan), Andrew (Shannon), Aaron, Lee Anne (Coleman), Stephanie, Daniel (Laura), Becky (Tom), Katie (Davy), Laura Beth, John, Jennifer, and Jim (Joy); and her 31 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-granddaughter.

Lola was the daughter of C. Spencer Goldsborough, Sr. and his wife, Margaret Smithson, and was born and raised in Chester, PA, graduating from Glen-Nor High School. She was happily married to Melvin E. Peterkin, Jr., spending the majority of their 46 years together in Brookhaven, PA.

Known for her vivacious smile and kind, quiet ways, her main interests were her family and her church. Along with keeping a neat, clean home and providing great meals, she was known for her decorating touches. She also decorated for church functions, along with participating in the choir and volunteering for Vacation Bible School. She accompanied her husband, Mel, on a few mission trips after his
retirement and, later in life, visited shut-ins from her church. She was known for always having a hymn/song for every moment. She loved gardening (especially with Mel) and flower arranging, which flowed into her being employed by Linvilla Orchards where she worked in the famous octagonal barn in the “Weed Shop” teaching classes on wreath making.

Lola was very close to her siblings throughout her life; they were her friends. Her brother Richard Goldsborough is still living, while the other four are deceased (Paul Goldsborough, Helen Williamson, Ruth Moore, and C. Spencer Goldsborough, Jr.). She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews and their children.

A service to celebrate Lola’s life will be held at Bethlehem Methodist Church , 4 Westtown Rd., Thornton, PA 19373 on March 15th, visitation at 10AM and a memorial service at 11AM. There will be a private burial.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to Trans World Radio (twr.org) or Wounded Warrior Project  support.woundedwarriorproject.org
