Obituary of Marion Edith Shufelt
Marion Edith (McCart) Shufelt, age 77, of Aston, PA, formerly of North Hoosick, NY, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 4, 2025. Marion was affectionately called “Ma” by her grandchildren.
She was a 1965 graduate of Hoosick Falls High School. Marion graduated college from SUNY in Buffalo in 1969 with a bachelor’s degree in biology. For many years, she chose to stay home and raise her children before going on to work once her two daughters got older.
Marion worked as a teacher’s aide for the alternative school at Northley Middle School. Later, she was employed as a prevention specialist with Holcomb Behavioral Health Services, retiring in 2008.
Marion was a devoted member of Mt. Hope United Methodist Church. She volunteered with the Bread of Life Ministry, Coffee Fellowship, Vacation Bible School, and money counting as well as assisted in the office when needed.
“Ma” found great joy in tending to her garden and watching birds. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and family, relaxing on the beach at her vacation home in Lewes, DE and was an avid reader. “Ma” adored her grandchildren and her greatest joy was spending time together. With her grandchildren, she played frisbee on the beach, attended school/sports/band events, hosted holidays and many birthday “pool parties”, and held “Ma and Grandpa Summer Camp” for many years as they grew up.
Daughter of the late Ralph Robert and Lillian Betsy (Bouplan) McCart; Step-sister of the late Harriett Stevens and Robert McCart.
Marion is survived by her devoted husband of 56 years, Bob Shufelt. She is also survived by her daughters, Judy Brower and Pam Eckels (Jimmy), her beloved grandchildren, Jared and Sara Brower, and many extended family in upstate New York.
