Obituary of Franklin D. Helton
Franklin D. Helton “Frank,” age 85, of Boothwyn, PA, formerly of Ohio, died on Monday, June 9, 2025.
Born in Kentucky, though he was raised and worked on the family farm in Ohio. He continued to share his love for farming in his life. Every year he was sure to till and plant a large vegetable garden with his wife and children until he physically was unable.
Frank attended Alger High School in Ohio. After high school, he went on to play Minor League baseball where he was drafted to the New York Yankees. A dedicated, self-taught mason, working for Local Union #1, he crafted his life’s work with quiet strength and left behind a legacy set in stone and in the hearts of those he served.
He traveled to Pennsylvania where he met the love of his life, Olga. Married just a few months later, they were happily married for 35+ years until her untimely passing in 2016. He rebuilt the home they shared and raised their children. He adored his life with her, often speaking of her after her passing.
When he wasn’t laying brick and stone, he found joy behind the wheel—an avid race car enthusiast whose passion for speed and precision mirrored the dedication he brought to his craft. Frank was skilled at billiards and enjoyed playing. He enjoyed watching the horse races on TV and attending them at Delaware Park. Frank had many hobbies over the years. Beyond his work, he cherished time with his grandson, Tyler, especially their peaceful days fishing and crabbing together—a bond strengthened by salt air and shared stories.
