Obituary of Stanley A. Przyjemski, Jr.
Stanley Anthony Przyjemski (affectionately known as Stan, Pop, or Poppop), age 94, of South Philadelphia, PA, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2025 at Bryn Mawr Hospice, surrounded by loved ones.
Born on December 13, 1930, in North Tonawanda, NY, Stanley was the beloved son of the late Stanley Anthony Przyjemski Sr. and Aurelia Michalina Skop. He spent his early childhood in Dickson City, PA, before settling in South Philadelphia—a place he would call home and cherish for the rest of his life.
Stanley was a proud graduate of South Philadelphia High School for Boys, Class of 1950. A talented athlete, he received several football scholarships and began his collegiate studies at the University of North Carolina. However, his academic and athletic pursuits were interrupted when he was drafted into the military. Stanley served honorably as a Sergeant First Class in the United States Army during the Korean War and continued to serve in the Army Reserves for several years following.
In 1954, Stanley began his career with Chevron (formerly Gulf Oil), where he worked diligently until his retirement in 1981 as a supervisor. After retiring from Chevron, he continued his professional life as a foreman with JJ White, where he was stationed at Sun Oil for several years. A true entrepreneur at heart, he also ran a small neighborhood corner store, fondly remembered for its impressive selection of candy and his friendly presence behind the counter.
Stanley was a gifted storyteller who loved sharing memories of "the good old days" and his deep affection for Philadelphia. He was an avid fan of both the Phillies and the Eagles. Above all, Stanley will be remembered for his kindness, compassion, and unwavering devotion to family and friends. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Aurelia Przyjemski; his sisters, Frances Strikey and Jean Stauder; wife, Elizabeth Benjamin, stepdaughters, Donna Roberts and Lisa Kelly; and grandson, Stanley Roberts.
Stanley is survived by his loving companion of 34 years, Ethel E. Kelly; his stepson, James J. Kelly Jr. (Donna); grandchildren, Billy John Roberts (April), Matthew Kelly, Jamie Hoesch (Matt), Brian Kelly (Jade), and Julie Eisenacher (Kenny); and great-grandchildren Matthew & Rylee Hoesch, Mila & Tatum Eisenacher, and James Kelly; Goddaughter Denise Nazian (Robert). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Visitation: Wednesday, July 30th from 2:30-3:45PM at Mount Hope United Methodist Church, 4020 Concord Rd., Aston, PA 19014.
Funeral Service: Wednesday, July 30th at 4:00PM at the church.
