Obituary of Mary Ann Mullen
Mary A. Mullen, age 78, of Ridley Park, PA, formerly of Aston, PA, died on Monday, August 11, 2025.
Born in Chester, PA, Mary was a graduate of Notre Dame High School, Moylan, PA and also a proud graduate of Penn State University and Temple University.
Dedicated to helping others, Mary served in the Peace Corps in Kandahar, Afghanistan, where she assisted in vaccinating children to prevent Polio.
When Mary returned to the U.S. she settled in Wasington D. C. where she worked as a Capital Police Officer. Her time as a police officer strengthened her desire to make a difference, leading to a fulfilling career in social work. Mary was employed with Catholic Social Services (CSS) in Philadelphia as an Administrator for Family Social Services. Mary also worked as Director of Family Caregivers Support Services for the Philadelphia Corporation for Aging (PCA) ) where she retired in 2014. Mary’s career was defined not only by her work, but also by the lifelong friendships she developed with friends and colleagues.
She was a devoted and active parishioner of the Church of St. Rose of Lima, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister.
A seasoned world traveler who circled the globe Mary’s latest journeys brought her to the breathtaking landscapes of New Zealand and Australia.
Most recently, Mary dedicated herself to her community through volunteering and political involvement which led to serving as an elected official.
Daughter of the late John and Ruth (Davis) Mullen, Mary is survived by:
Sister: Elizabeth Bush (Larry) of Aston, PA.
Brothers: Carl (Andrea) Mullen, John (the late Geri) Mullen, Joe (Lorraine) Mullen, from Aston,
Family was an important part of her life as a devoted and loving aunt to her many nieces and nephews including;
Amy, Katie (Bryan), Joe (Eileen), Kevin, Matt, Mary Elizabeth (Brian), Jesse (Lindsey), Lindsey (Brad), Andrew (Courtney), Jonathan, Jill (Charlie).
Visitation: Tuesday, August 19th after 10:30AM at the Church of St. Rose of Lima, 1901 Chester Pike, Eddystone, PA 19022
Funeral Mass: Tuesday, August 19th at 11:30AM at the church.
Interment: Private.
