Obituary of Sharon Lowry Lally
Sharon Lowry Lally, of Media, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on September 20th, 2025 at the age of 70, after a long and courageous battle with breast cancer.
She was born on July 20, 1955, in Roaring Spring, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Robert Elwood Lowry and Elsie Beard Lowry. Sharon grew up with her belovedsiblings, Susan Lowry Hare (Joseph) and Cameron Lowry (Sherri), who survive her.
Sharon’s childhood was shaped by frequent moves, as her father owned several car dealerships and held other roles in the automotive industry. Over the years, she lived in Martinsburg, Pennsylvania; Taneytown, Maryland; and Medford Lakes, New Jersey. During her high school years, she settled in Clarence, New York, where she lived with her dear friend Cindy Worden and the Worden family. They embraced her as one of their own and became a cherished second family to her.
A dedicated student, Sharon earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in 1977 and her MBA in 1979, both from SUNY Albany. Soon after, she began her career at Xerox in Webster, New York, where she worked as a financial analyst for 37 years until her retirement in 2016.
Sharon spent most of her adult life in Webster, New York, where she raised her sons David and Michael, and put down strong roots. She was formerly married to Terrence Lally, with whom she built a warm and nurturing home for her children. Sharon also developed lifelong friendships and became deeply connected to the community she loved. She was an active member of Webster Presbyterian Church and involved in many organizations, including Rochester Global Connections, the American Red Cross, Hope House, and the Rochester Women’s Network.
Though Webster had long been her home, Sharon embraced a new chapter when she moved to Media in 2019 to be closer to family. She quickly became part of her new community through the Newcomers’ Neighbor group and Ladies Dining Out.
She found joy in dancing, traveling, playing piano, sewing, pickleball, and long walks. Above all, Sharon cherished time spent with her family. She is survived by her loving sons, David Lally (Monika) and Michael Lally, who will forever hold her memory in their hearts.
Sharon’s life was defined by kindness, generosity, and a positive spirit. In her memory, Sharon’s family asks that friends and loved ones honor her legacy by performing an act of kindness—big or small—to brighten someone else’s day, just as she so often did.
Those wishing to make a memorial contribution may also consider supporting breast cancer research and treatment through Fox Chase Cancer Center. Donations can be made online at www.foxchase.org/giving .
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 4th, at Media Presbyterian Church. Visiting hours will be from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., followed by a service at 2:00 p.m. A reception with light refreshments will take place at the church immediately after the service. All who knew and loved Sharon are warmly invited to attend and celebrate her life.
