Obituary of Eugene J. Kelly

Eugene Joseph Kelly, age 84, a 50-year resident of Middletown Twp., Media, PA, died on Sunday, September 28, 2025 surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on June 20, 1941 in East Lansdowne, PA and was the son of the late Daniel and Helen (Keane) Kelly, husband of Elaine R. (Steindl) Kelly, to whom he was married for 58 years and father of Michael Kelly and Gina Hawkins.

Gene was a proud graduate of Monsignor Bonner High School and earned his Bachelor's Degree at St. Joseph’s University.  

Dad served honorably in the United States Army before he went on to a 30 year career as a Supervisor for Verizon, formerly Bell Atlantic.

Gene was an avid car guy, handyman who was always fixing something, who enjoyed his retirement.  His days were spent with family, going to lunches with friends, and helping out his kids with projects around the house.  He had an active life and loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, Faith, Jack and Kelly.

Gene was a man of quiet faith and a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Lenni, PA.

Gene is survived by his son Michael (Nicole); his daughter, Gina (Daniel); his 3 grandchildren: Faith Kelly; Jack Hawkins; Kelly Hawkins; as well as countless other friends and family.

He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Visitation: Thursday, October 2nd from 6:00-8:00PM at Minshall Shropshire-Bleyler Funeral Home, Middletown (Rte.#352) & Knowlton Rds. Middletown Twp., Media, PA 19063 and Friday, October 3^rd from 10:00-10:45AM at the Church of St. Francis de Sales, 35 New Rd., Aston, PA 19014.

Funeral Mass: Friday, October 3^rd at 11:00AM at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church.

Interment: St. Francis de Sales Cemetery
