Obituary of Jacquelyn H. Gibbons, M.D.

Jacquelyn Hayes Gibbons, 89, of Media and Glen Mills PA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 18, 2025 in East Greenwich, RI surrounded by family and friends. She was born on 9/27/1936 Johnstown, PA to the late Marion (Commons) Hayes and John Hayes. She graduated from Ebensburg-Cambria High School (1953), Juniata College (1957), and Temple University School of Medicine (1961). She started her pediatric practice in 1966, which eventually became Providence Pediatric Practice, where she worked until her retirement in 2014. She was loved by multiple generations of patients for her compassionate and skillful care, generous heart, quick wit, and great sense of humor.

She was a deeply loved mother, grandmother, friend, spiritual and professional mentor, and musician, who touched so many lives. She was often referred to as, “Superwoman” by those close to her who were amazed by her ability to juggle so many responsibilities singlehandedly. She had a very strong faith in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and was a longtime member and active participant at Saint Mary Magdalen Parish, where she was the organist and choir director for over 20 years. She also used her musical talents in retirement at her Maris Grove Senior Community by accompanying the community choir, and by providing music for many holiday celebrations and memorials.

She is survived by her beloved children Richard (Janet) Gibbons of Princeton, MA, and Lynn (Thomas) Blackstone of East Greenwich, RI; grandchildren: Stephen (Carolan) Gibbons, Dana (Joshua) Fask, Carey (Roger) Holden, Alexander (Sarah Blankenship) Blackstone, Patrick Blackstone, and Laura Blackstone; and great granddaughter Bradley Fask. She is also survived by her sister Blanche “Bonnie” Hayes Burr and brother Dr. Arthur (Jill) Hayes, several nieces and nephews, and many friends.

Visitation: Sunday, October 26th from 6:00-8:00PM at the Minshall Shropshire-Bleyler Funeral Home, Middletown (Rte.#352) & Knowlton Rds., Middletown Twp., Media, PA 19063, and Monday, October 27th after 10:00AM at the Church of St. Mary Magdalen, 2400 N. Providence Rd., Media, PA 19063.
