I met Shirley at my first SRA meeting in 1988. She was often the first person attendees met at the registration desk, and she knew almost everyone and everything about the meetings. We became fast friends and over the years spent much of our free time together at the meetings, seeing the sites, meeting up for meals, dancing at the meeting receptions (and some memorable nightclubs), and getting into mischief on occasion. Though Shirley retired some time in the 90s, she continued to attend SRA meetings on her own dime. SRA was her second family; she always volunteered at the registration desk so everyone knew her - and she had many, many good friends. Shirley and I had lengthy phone calls a couple times a year, catching up on family and things we were doing. We were both in choirs, and would talk about music we were singing. I will miss those calls. I will miss her friendship. I am blessed to have known her.
