Obituary of John W. Grayston

John W. Grayston “Big Cat”, age 80, of Swarthmore, PA, formerly of Chichester, PA died Wednesday, December 17, 2025 at Riddle Memorial Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on November 6, 1945 to Frank A. and Helen Herman Grayston.

John graduated from Cheyney University, where he earned a degree in education. He devoted his career as a teacher to the Southeast Delco School District for 47 years.  Though he was a dedicated teacher, he enjoyed his down time spent hunting, fishing, and watching all football games. Most of all, John’s favorite pass time was spending time with his grandchildren and grand dogs, at his favorite place, The White Pine Lodge in Central Pennsylvania Mountains.

Son to the late Frank A. and Helen Herman Grayston. Brother to the late Frank Grayston. Nephew to the late Laura Lilly.

Loving Wife of 56 years: Constance M. Grayston of 56 years

Daughter: Dawn Hartman (Chris) of Aston, PA

Son: John F. Grayston (Jen) of Aston, PA

Grandchildren: Ashley Dascanio, Robert and Kaitlyn Hartman, Taylor, Lyndsi, and Jonathan Grayston

Cousins: Laura Scott and Joni Heraman of Boothwyn, PA

Visitation: Tuesday, December 23^rd, after 10:00AM at the Minshall Shropshire-Bleyler Funeral Home, Middletown (Rte. #352) & Knowlton Rds., Middletown Twp., Media, PA 19063.

Funeral Service: Tuesday, December 23^rd, at 11:00AM at the funeral home.

Interment: Mount Hope Cemetery, Aston, PA
