Obituary of Harold C. Walker
Harold C. Walker, age 96 “Cherry", “Hal”, “Herb” a lifelong resident of Chester, PA, died on Tuesday, January 6, 2026.
Herb attended Glen-Nor High School in Norwood, PA. He went to work early at the shipyard in the pipe shop and then Chester Hardware Supply Store. Hal started in fire service at the age of 18. He devoted a lifelong career to serving his community with honor, bravery, and commitment. He proudly helped charter the Chester City Fire Fighters Union, Local 1400, strengthening the union from its beginnings.
An avid fisherman, he cherished the quiet moments and camaraderie that came with time spent fishing. Hal enjoyed deep sea fishing, specifically on the boat Porgy III. A lighthearted prankster, he was always quick with a joke and loved making others laugh. Hal especially enjoyed fireworks and never missed a chance to celebrate with family and friends. He met his beloved wife through a party line, a story he fondly shared over the years.
Son of the late Lorenzo and Lena Howell Walker. Husband of 58 years to the late Elizabeth Poist Walker and predeceased by one brother and five sisters. Father to the late Shirley Postlewait, Deborah Kepics, Cindy Walker

Great Grandchildren: Cole, Madison, Maddox
Visitation: Tuesday, January 13th from 5:00-7:00PM at the Minshall Shropshire-Bleyler Funeral Home, Middletown (Rte. #352) & Knowlton Rds., Middletown Twp., Media, PA 19063.
Interment will be private at Edgewood Memorial Park.
