Obituary of Edward Lee Hammond, Sr.

Edward Lee Hammond, Sr., age 79, of Aston, PA, formerly of Chester, PA, died at home surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, January 15, 2026.

Ed was a graduate of Chester High School, Class of 1965.  He was employed with the Chester Water Authority for 28 years, retiring in 2012.

Mr. Hammond was a U.S. Army Veteran, where he was awarded for his heroics in sharpshooting.

Ed enjoyed playing longboard shuffleboard and was an active member of several leagues.  An avid reader, Ed also loved cheering on Philadelphia sports teams, with a special passion for the Eagles. He especially enjoyed vacations with his family to North Wildwood.  His passion for trains was a cherished hobby that brought him great happiness.

Ed and his Grandson Sean shared a close and meaningful relationship, rooted in the care Ed gave him in his younger years.  Family was Ed’s greatest devotion and he cherished spending time together.

Son of the late Lawrence and Dorothy (Jeandell) Hammond.

Wife of 49 years: Debra A. (Pearson) Hammond

Son: Edward L. (Darlene) Hammond, Jr.

Daughter:  Diana (Pat) Twisler

Grandchildren: Sean, Larissa and Kayla

Brother: Dennis (Kathy) Hammond

Sister: Beverly Downie

Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews

Visitation: Friday, January 23rd from 10:00-11:15AM at the Minshall Shropshire-Bleyler Funeral Home, Middletown (Rte. #352) & Knowlton Rds., Middletown Twp., Media, PA 19063.

Funeral Service: Friday, January 23rd at 11:30AM at the funeral home.

Interment: Private.
