Obituary of Norman S. Atkins

Norman S. Atkins, “Stew” age 82, of Linwood, PA, formerly of Upland, PA, died on Wednesday, February 4, 2026.

Stew was a U.S. Army veteran who served in combat in Vietnam. As a member of an advance guard, he was awarded the Bronze Star for gallantry in action. After his honorable active-duty service, he continued serving his country by joining the Army Reserves, retiring with 25 years of service. Stew also remained dedicated to his community through his involvement with American Legion Post #926 and was a proud member of Upland Fire Company #1.

Throughout his career, Stew was known for his strong work ethic and dedication as a machinist. He began his professional journey at Westinghouse, followed by work at the Philadelphia Navy Yard. He later concluded his career at Boeing, retiring in 1999.

Stew enjoyed coin collecting, appreciating the history each coin represented. Most of all, he cherished spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Son of the late Norman W. and Carrie (Doyle) Atkins; Husband of the late Mary (Clendening) Atkins; brother of the late William and Ray Atkins.

Survivors:

Daughter: Jean Atkins of Linwood, PA.

Son: Christopher Atkins of Linwood, PA.

Sister: Dee Atkins

Sister-in-Law: Jennifer Atkins

8 Grandchildren and 12 Great Grandchildren

Also survived by many nieces and nephews

Graveside Service: Friday, February 13th at 11:00AM at Lawn Croft Cemetery, Linwood, PA.
