Obituary of John W. Newsom
DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER, THE FUNERAL SERVICE HAS BEEN RESCHEDULED FOR TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 24TH.
John W. Newsom, age 82, of West Chester, PA, formerly of Folsom, PA, died at home on Saturday, February 14, 2026.
John was a graduate of Ridley High School. He received a degree in mechanical engineering from the Pennsylvania Institute of Technology. John was a project engineer with Scott Paper for 35 years, retiring in 2004.
Mr. Newsom was a U.S Army Veteran. He was a member of Christ Community Church.
John served 10 years as a Republican Committeeman for Birmingham Township. He was a proud member of the National Rifle Association.
An avid outdoorsman, John enjoyed boating, hunting, fishing and snow skiing. He also had a deep appreciation for classic cars, and took pride in his 1969 Corvette convertible that he restored himself.
John deeply cherished his family, finding his greatest joy in being surrounded by those he loved.
Son of the late Herbert and Louise (Kirk) Newsom; Brother of the late Herbert Gary Newsom and Aline Shore.

Step-Children: Leanne (Eric) Zemitis and Wayne (Lynn) Hopkins
Grandchildren: Robbie, Rachel, Leigha, Lindsay, Brayden
Nieces: Laura, Tricia (Dom)
Nephews: Gary, Nicolas (Anna)
Visitation: Tuesday, February 24th after 10:00AM at Minshall Shropshire-Bleyler Funeral Home, Middletown (Rte. #352) & Knowlton Rds., Middletown Twp., Media, PA, 19063.
Funeral Service: Tuesday, February 24th at 11:30AM at the funeral home.
Entombment: Edgewood Mausoleum.
