Elizabeth “Bette” Hodgson Obituary
With deep love and gratitude for a life well lived, we announce the passing of Elizabeth “Bette” Hodgson, who journeyed home peacefully, surrounded by family and friends, on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at the age of 79.
Born on November 10, 1946, in Philadelphia, Bette married the love of her life, husband, George and lived in Middletown since 1993. For nearly 30 years Bette spent much of her career as the Office Manager of Administrative Services and Central Purchasing at the Delaware County Courthouse, retiring in 2010.
Bette lived a life marked by kindness, dedication, and a deep love for her family and friends. Over the years, she built lasting relationships and touched the lives of many through her generosity, warmth, and wonderful sense of humor.
Those who knew Bette will remember the simple yet meaningful moments that defined her life. She was known for her kindness, resilience, humor, and wisdom, and for the joy she brought to everyday life. Whether sharing stories around the table, continuing a favorite tradition, or offering a helping hand when someone needed it most, Bette had a gift for making people feel welcome and valued.
Outings with friends and family gatherings were especially cherished, often filled with laughter, good food, and memories that will live on in the hearts of all who shared them. She also had a special place in her heart for her pets, Camy and Raja, whose companionship brought her endless comfort and joy.
Bette is lovingly survived by her sister Kathleen Hobbs; her brother Charles; her sisters-in-law Angela Calhoun and Sue Calhoun; her beloved nieces and nephews; her loving grandchildren: along with cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, George Hodgson; her parents, John and Catherine Calhoun; her brother, John Calhoun and brother-in-law, John Hobbs.
A Mass will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at Our Lady of Charity Church, 231 Upland Rd., Brookhaven. All who knew and loved Bette are welcome to attend visitation at the church from 10:00–11:00 AM, followed by Mass at 11:00 AM.
With loving gratitude, the family thanks Bette’s cherished friend and neighbor, Lois, whose steady presence, love, and devoted care brought her great comfort. They are also profoundly thankful for the remarkable kindness and compassionate care provided by the staff of Main Line Health Hospice.
