Obituary of Gary J. Muscella

Gary Joseph Muscella

May 1953 – March 2026

Gary Joseph Muscella, 72, a lifelong resident of Media passed away peacefully in the early morning hours on Sunday, March 22nd.

Born and raised in Delaware County, Gary was an alumnus of Penncrest High School.  He was predeceased by his loving parents, Joseph & Mary Muscella, he is survived by his daughter Kathleen, sister Diane McDonald (Chuck) and nieces Kerry (Chad) and Dana as well as many cousins, Aunts and Uncles who remained a constant source of love, friendship and support throughout Gary’s life.

Gary found great joy in the simple and meaningful things in life.  He was a dedicated and hardworking man, spending most of his career with Caleco Company (25+ years.)  Gary also worked with Acme Markets in the bakery department where he found happiness chatting with customers and on occasion surprising them with a cookie . . or two.   As a resident of Middletown, he enjoyed frequently visiting Linvilla Orchards where he would joke with the staff and treat himself to their famous apple pie and donuts.  In his younger years, Gary was a strong swimmer and avid bowler.  He shared his father’s green thumb and would spend hours in his vegetable garden, proudly growing and bragging about his beautiful tomatoes.

Though a lifelong dog lover, Gary could often be found cuddling with his cats, Gizmo and Pumpkin while watching old westerns, Animal Planet or his favorite oldies from MeTV including MASH* and Gomer Pyle.

Gary will be remembered most for his kind heart, gentle spirit, sense of humor and unmistakable laugh.  He will leave behind cherished memories and joy that he brought to everyone who knew him.
