Gerhard was not only a man of many talents but also one of integrity and strength, along with sensitivity and warmheartedness. He came into my life as a role model father for my dear cousin V. Michael, and therefore became like a family relative of mine. His technical education was similar to mine, but I learned so much more through project interactions with him throughout the years. I can think of no more embodiments of selfless devotion to family and friends than Gerhard and Vera, who were also Opa and Oma to Judy and me. This is a man that I will sorely miss, but if I had the power, I would not extend his life by one minute, as he is with his Lord and Savior in heaven, rejoicing with those that went before him, after serving his God and humanity for 95 years.
