Obituary of Sherrill E. Hummel

Sherrill E. Hummel (Orner), 92 of Ridley Township passed away peacefully on Friday, April 24 th , 2026. Born at Chester Hospital in Delaware County, graduated from Ridley High School in 1951. She worked most of her life at various jobs. Her greatest joy was taking care of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was often seen with a crochet hook in her hand creating afghans for friends and family. She also enjoyed Scrabble, word puzzles and travel.

Survived by her sister Violet Slobodinsky and brothers Fred Orner and Robert Orner.
Children: Sharon and Michael Olszewsky, Janice and Bill Sheehan, Robert Hummel, Maurice Hummel, Heather and Larry Smalley. Grandchildren: Alexander, Roisin and PJ Smalley, Eileen and Chris Tini, Molly Sheehan and Alyssa Hummel. Great Grandchildren: Anakin, Jocelyn, Natalie Smalley, Ronan and Decland Wixted, Everett, Collette and Vivienne Tini, Presley and Jameson Miller.
Predeceased in death by her father and mother, John and Madeline Orner. Husband John and siblings: Bud, Ruth, Lance and Daryl.

A graveside service will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to The American Heart Association.
