Obituary of Frederica J. Moreno

Frederica J. (Branch) Moreno, age 94, of Chester, PA, formerly of Philadelphia, PA, died at home with her daughter by her side on Tuesday, April 21, 2026.  Frederica was born in Brooklyn, NY, and grew up in Barbados, until she was 8 years old. She was a 1948 graduate of Prospect Heights High School, where she was active in band and the Pan American Club.

Frederica was the Chief of Administrative Services at the Defense Supply Center of Philadelphia, retiring in 1993. She was inducted into the DSCP Hall of Fame June 2, 1998.  After retirement, she worked part time at JCPenney.  She was a faithful parishioner of St. Katherine Drexel Catholic Church, Chester, PA.

Frederica was a talented tailor apprentice who took great pride in her craft. She cherished traveling with her daughter, creating special memories along the way. In 2022, Frederica completed her bucket wish list to go to Alaska and visit the training camp for puppies to become “musher” dogs.

 An avid reader, she especially loved English mystery novels. She enjoyed working in her garden.  Miss. Freddie enjoyed a good Cabaret and restaurants. Frederica also had a wonderful sense of style and was known for her fashionable wardrobe, filled with many colorful clothes and shoes. At Main Line Health Wellness and Fitness Center, she was referred to as the “the lady in red” and had a cap for every outfit. Frederica was a proud member of the Red Hat Society. She also cherished the many friendships she formed with her neighbors, as well as the special bonds she shared with their beloved dogs and cats.  

Daughter of the late Henry and Alice (James) Branch.

She is survived by her daughter, Erica M. Branch and many cousins.

A celebration of life will be held on Freddie's Birthday: Wednesday, May 27th , at 12noon, visitation after 11:00AM at the Minshall Shropshire-Bleyler Funeral Home, Middletown (Rte. #352) & Knowlton Rds., Middletown Twp., Media, PA, 19063.
