Obituary of Robert L. Schmidt

Robert “Bob” Schmidt, age 80, of Middletown Township, Media, PA died on Monday, May 18, 2026, at home surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Ridley Park, PA, Bob had been a resident of Middletown Township for the past 41 years.

A decorated, wounded and disabled Marine Corps combat Veteran of Vietnam, he was a recipient of numerous decorations and medals including the Silver Star, Bronze Star and 5 Purple Hearts. He also received the Vietnam Gallantry Cross and National Defense Service Medal.

Bob was a graduate of the Forty-Nine Ranger School, Jungle Training and Demolition Expert. He was a Rifle Expert, 4th Award and Pistol Expert, 4th award.

Bob’s greatest concern was helping fellow veterans, and he made it his life’s work to support and serve those who had served their country.

He enjoyed breakfast daily at the former Lima Restaurant, now Infinity Diner. Most of all, Bob cherished caring for his family.

Son of the Late B. Edward and Beatrice Scott Schmidt; brother of the late Little Bee Schmidt.

Wife of 54 years, Susan Wisdo Schmidt

 Sons: Douglas and Ryan Schmidt

Daughter Victoria (Jesse) Palmer

Brothers: Ed (Debra) Schmidt, Gus (Maureen) Schmidt

Sister: Madeleine (the late Russ) Maust

Grandchildren: Milo, Rocco, Ayla, Shane and Kyle

 Also survived by Nieces and Nephews.

Visitation: Tuesday, May 26th after 10:30AM at the Minshall Shropshire-Bleyler Funeral Home, Middletown (Rte. #352) & Knowlton Rd., Middletown Twp., Media, PA 19063.

Funeral Service: Tuesday, May 26th at 11:30AM at the funeral home.

Interment with Military Honors wil be Wednesday, June 10th  at 11:00AM at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, 830 Highland Rd., Newtown, PA 18940.
