Obituary of Anne L. Dunion

Anne L. Dunion, 64, entered into the presence of her Lord on June 27, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family after a courageous battle with illness.

“If our family is a song, then Anne was the music.”

Anne was the dance in the rain, the whistle in the wind, and the lighthouse that always guided us home. She wasn’t simply the heart of our family—she was home. Her laughter filled every room, her smile welcomed everyone, and her love made ordinary moments unforgettable.

To know Anne was to know joy. She was endlessly bubbly, genuinely friendly, and never met a stranger she couldn’t befriend. She loved to laugh, loved to have a good time, and had a remarkable gift for making everyone around her feel like family. Whether she was your wife, mom, grandmother, aunt, sister, friend, or neighbor, Anne never forgot a birthday, never let you leave hungry, and never missed an opportunity to remind you that you were loved.

Anne dedicated much of her career to serving others. She worked for many years as a bank teller before finding a role she cherished as an elementary school lunch lady at East Bradford Elementary and Westtown-Thornbury Elementary Schools. It wasn’t just a job—it allowed her to be exactly where she wanted to be: on the same schedule as her boys, Alex and Eric, so she could greet them after school, hear about their day, and simply be present. She was born to be a mother, and a remarkable one she was.

She was incredibly proud of her sons, Robert “Alex” and Eric Dunion. There wasn’t a practice she missed, a milestone she overlooked, or a moment she wasn’t cheering them on. Long before they realized how much they needed her, she was already there.

Anne found her happiest place at the beach. Long before she became a wife, mother, and grandmother, she was a little girl spending summers at her parents’ beach house on 65th Street in Avalon. That love for the shore never left her. It grew into a lifetime of cherished memories at Benny’s Landing, where weeks were spent under the sun, searching for beach glass, and gathering with family on the 100th and 105th Street beaches of Stone Harbor. The tide changed, the generations grew, but the beach remained the place where Anne felt most at peace.

When she wasn’t at the shore, she could usually be found tending to her flowers. She loved gardening and took great pride in creating a backyard that, in her eyes, could rival Longwood Gardens—though there always seemed to be one more weed waiting to be pulled.

Anne lived with a beautiful freedom throughout her life. She never worried much about what anyone thought of her. She laughed loudly, loved deeply, and embraced life wholeheartedly. That authenticity made people feel comfortable being themselves around her, and it is one of the countless reasons she was so deeply loved.

Just seven days before her passing, Anne experienced one of life’s greatest blessings: becoming “Lovey” to her first grandchild, Wyatt Robert Dunion. Though their time together was heartbreakingly short, her love for him was immediate and immeasurable. Her family finds comfort in believing that the same loving arms that once held her children are now held forever in the embrace of her Heavenly Father.

Anne is survived by her devoted husband, Robert “Rob” Dunion; her beloved sons, Robert “Alex” Dunion and Eric Dunion; her daughter-in-law, Kaitlyn Dunion; and her treasured grandson, Wyatt Robert Dunion.

She is also lovingly remembered by her siblings: Joseph “Jobey” T. Labrum III and his wife, Kathryn; Paula Booth and her husband, Scott; Thomas “Tom” Labrum and his wife, Julie; Maria “Bea” Hare and her husband, Joe; Carole Labrum; and William “Bill” Labrum and his wife, Tracey, along with many cherished nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends whose lives were forever enriched by knowing her.

Anne was preceded in death by her parents, the Honorable Joseph T. Labrum Jr. and Rosemary Labrum, whom she now joins in God’s eternal kingdom.

Anne’s Catholic faith sustained her throughout her life. While her family grieves the tremendous loss of her presence, they find peace in the promise of Christ and rejoice in knowing she has been welcomed home, where there is no more pain, no more sorrow, and where one day they will be reunited.

Those who loved Anne will carry her with them always—in every family gathering, every sunset, every full moon, every blooming flower, every birthday remembered, every meal shared around the table, and every joyful laugh that reminds us of the music she brought into our lives.

For now, the lighthouse that always guided us home has reached her own eternal shore. Though our hearts ache in her absence, we rejoice in the promise that this goodbye is only temporary. One day, by God’s grace, we will be together again. Until then, every sunset over the bay, every full moon in the summer sky, and every flower that blooms will remind us of Anne, and of the love she planted in each of our hearts.

One of Anne’s greatest joys in life was reading. Because of that, we’d like to send her off with one final collection of stories filled with the people she loved most. Visitation: Tuesday, July 7th, from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the Minshall Shropshire-Bleyler Funeral Home, Middletown (Rte. #352) & Knowlton Rds., Middletown Twp., Media, PA 19063.

Funeral Mass: Wednesday, July 8th  Visitation from 10:00 a.m. – 10:45 a.m. and funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. at St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish,15 East Pleasant Grove Road West Chester, PA 19382

Interment will immediately follow at SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery.
