Obituary of Sigrun E. Carnevale

Sigrun Elaine Carnevale “Sig / Siggy / Zig” age 71, of Hernando Beach, FL, formerly of Millsboro, DE, died on Saturday, August 1, 2026 in Emporia, VA on her way home to Florida.

Sigrun worked in the Finance Dept. for Boeing Helicopters in Ridley Park, PA, until her retirement. After retirement, she was employed part time by Griswold Home Care, where she enjoyed both cooking and caring for her clients until her 2nd retirement in July.  She cherished the love and companionship of her family and friends, always treasuring the special moments they shared together.  On occasion, she enjoyed going to Burger King for lunch with her girlfriends, and during lunch she requested that they all wear the BK crown while eating their lunch.  Sig was an active member at the American Legion Post 28 in Millsboro, DE, and especially enjoyed her Thursday evenings there playing Hotspots with her friends.  She volunteered for Meals on Wheels, as well as, the American Legion; She appreciated both the fellowship and sense of community it provided.

She had a love for pottery and antiquing, and she cherished the special finds she discovered over the years. Sig greatly enjoyed spending her time cooking for others, and crocheting. Her favorite pastime, aside from cooking, was rooting for and watching the Philadelphia Eagles.

Daughter of the late Thormod "Tom" Bassoe and Ida "Jerry" Mary Hopkins (Merkel).

Survivors:

Daughters: Cori Lee and Krista Crawford(Rick)

Brothers: Bill Van Dyke and Jim Van Dyke(Toni)

Her beloved pets: Tiki and Rosie

Grandchildren: Breighanna Bernard and Jay Rottenberk

Also survived by several cousins and many nieces and nephews

Visitation: Thursday, September 10th after 10:00AM at the Minshall Shropshire-Bleyler Funeral Home, Middletown (Rte.#352) & Knowlton Rds., Middletown Twp., Media, PA 19063

Memorial Service: Thursday, September 10th at 11:00AM at the funeral home.

Interment will be private.
