Obituary of John A. Klock

John A. Klock, (“Johnny” or “Klocky”) age 95, formerly of Fox Hill Farms and Philadelphia, PA, died peacefully on February 8th at Maris Grove. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Angeline (“Angela” or “Angie”), after 72 years of marriage. He was also the loving father of Carolyn Klock and son-in-law George McCook, doting grandfather of E.J. Klock-McCook and his wife, Ashley Harwi. John was also predeceased by his parents Nellie and John Klock, five sisters and four brothers. He is survived by one sister, Dorothy Kloss, as well as many nieces and nephews. John graduated from Gratz High School in Philadelphia, and married his high school sweetheart in 1942. He served proudly in the U.S. Navy, during World War II, on the destroyer USS Wallace L. Lind, in the South Pacific. Returning home to Philadelphia, in 1946, he began driving a bus for the old PTC Company, which later became Septa. His 40 year career won him many devoted passengers, as well as multiple commendations for perfect attendance and accident free record. Besides his wife and family, John’s passion was the Phillies, whom he followed religiously, coaching the players closely from the radio or TV. John’s other passion was his automobiles, beginning with the Model T. Ford, and ending with the Mercury Marquis, each coddled and babied in first class fashion. Graveside services and interment will be private on Saturday, February 14th, at Holy Seplulchre Cemetery.
