Obituary of Vera M. O'Connor

Vera M. O'Connor, age 93, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 21, 2017, surrounded by her loving family. Vera was born in St. Albans, Hertfordshire, England. She served in the British National Fire Service during WWII. During that time, Vera met and married her late husband of 57 years, Jim, while he was serving as an Army MP. Vera followed Jim back to the US and they settled in Upper Darby, PA and then Brookhaven, PA, for the last 40 years. Vera was an avid reader, history buff and a published poet. She was a member of the women's bowling league at Conchester Lanes for more than 30 years. She loved to travel, casino trips with her friends, and long country rides with Jim. Wife of the late James O'Connor, who died in 2000. Survivors: Daughters: Lorraine Leo, Veronica Henderson, Barbara (Vincent) Bruno, Angela (Mike) Nieves and Colleen (Gary) Yatsuk 10 Grandchildren: Faith, Renee, Laura, Gail, Jimmy, Chris, Andrea, Erica, Maria and Dan 8 Great-Grandchildren: Jacqueline, Matthew, Zachary, Caleb, Christopher, AJ, Amelia, and Rhegan Funeral Service: Thursday, March 30th at 11:00AM at Minshall Shropshire-Bleyler Funeral Home, Ltd., Middletown (Rte. #352) & Knowlton Rds., Middletown Twp., Media, PA 19063. Visitation: Thursday, March 30th after 10:00AM at the funeral home. Interment: Private at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
