Obituary of Joan E. Bateman

Joan Elizabeth (Keeley) Bateman, age 77, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, September 3, 2023.  Joan was born on May 27, 1946 in Elizabeth, New Jersey. She was the daughter of the late William Wade Keeley and Mildred Elizabeth (Lindermuth) Keeley.

She was a 1964 graduate of Blue Mountain High School in Orwigsburg, PA. Shortly after graduation she married the love of her life John Filz Bateman, Jr. on September 4, 1965.  They enjoyed almost 57 years of marriage. She was employed as a billing secretary at Plastic Surgery Ears, Nose and Throat, then retired from Pennsylvania Rehab.

Joan loved people, always had a smile on her face and loved her family fiercely. She enjoyed cooking and baking.  The pies she would make from scratch were delicious and she made sure to make every guests favorite pie when she hosted Thanksgiving.   In her spare time she enjoyed reading and loving on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  An emptiness will be felt by those who were blessed by her faithful card ministry.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her brother William Keeley, Jr.
Those left to cherish her memories are her children: Janice Williams (Wes), John Bateman (Michelle) and Jeff Bateman (Amy) as well as her siblings; Kenneth Keeley (Sue), Randy Keeley (Kathy), Kathy Mills (John) Cindy Keeley (Stan), Joan Hewlings (Chuck).  She will be  missed by her 11 grandchildren; James McFadden (Kait), Jacob McFadden (Allissa) , Joshua McFadden, Michael Williams, Christopher Williams (Amber), Wesley Williams, Mackenzie Bateman, Ben Bateman, Emma Bateman, Logan Bateman, Parker Bateman and 4 Great-Grandchildren. Many nieces and nephews will also miss their Aunty Joan.

As we mourn the loss of our mother, sister, Grammy and friend, we know she is at peace as she is reunited in heaven with the love of her life and with her savior Jesus Christ.

A Memorial Service to celebrate her life will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 18, 2023 at Chadds Ford Baptist Church: 415 Baltimore Pike Chadds Ford, PA 19317.  The family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M. also at the Church.  Lunch will be provided following the service at the Church.  In lieu of flowers memorials can be sent to Chadds Ford Baptist Church.
