Condolences
Eileen -
I was saddened when I received the news of your father's passing. I know this is a great loss for you especially after recently losing your mom! Please know that our prayers are with you and your family. Continue to hold on to the precious memories that you have of them.
Sincerely,
Carolyn Thornton
I will never forget my beloved Uncle Charlie.
Of all the Toner uncles, he was the "modern" one -- from his Hobie Cat and Toyota Maxima, to his split level home and fondness for home improvements and landscaping. I was always impressed with his openness to and excitement about new ideas.
His kindness, humility and thoughtfulness were striking. Even when I was a little kid, he would engage me and give serious answers to any question I had. I remember asking him to retell his time in the Army when he was caught in a hayloft with Germans underneath. I was fascinated by his work on helicopters, and remember his involvement in the development of the rotor made of boron that was less susceptible to shattering when hit by bullets, a modification that saved many lives in Vietnam.
In many ways he's been a role model for me, though I've not always been able to measure up.
We will all miss you Uncle Charlie.
Jim
