Obituary of Donald F. Borden
Donald F. Borden, "Juice", age 66, of Glen Mills, formerly of N. Philadelphia, died Sunday, April 10, 2011. Donald graduated 2nd in his class from Thomas Edison High School and attended York Academy of Arts on a full scholarship. He graduated with a 4.0 grade average. Donald worked both free lance and as an Art Director, specializing in commercial design and illustration. He was very proud that he was a "true" artist and not a computer generated illustrator and received numerous awards throughout his career.
During the Vietnam War, Don proudly and bravely served in the Army as part of Company A 2nd Battalion, 27th Infantry Regiment (Wolfhounds) and 25th Infantry Division (Tropic Lightning) in 1967-1968. He earned a CIB and was the recipient of a Bronze Star. Years later, he joined the Media VFW Post # 3460 and served as Commander for 3 years as well as Captain of the Honor Guard, leading many parades down State Street in Media, PA.
A history buff, he was most interested in the Civil War and considered Gettysburg, PA, his home away from home. An avid modeler, he enjoyed building WWII ships and historical buildings for his Civil War Era railroad platform. He enjoyed traveling, including trips to Germany, Alaska and Hawaii.
Don never shied away from a microphone, where he did impersonations and sang. He promises to return as a multi-talented entertainer in his next life. A lover of animals, he is now re-joined in heaven with many cats and his dog, Stinger.
He was the son of the late Donald F. Borden.
