Obituary of Ellwood William Gittman, Sr.
Ellwood W. Gittman, Sr. age 76, passed away Friday, December 22nd, 2017 surrounded by his family. Ellwood was born in Wilmington Delaware, he then became a lifelong resident of Parkside PA. After leaving Chester High School to start a family with his longtime sweetheart, Maurine, he became a self-educated mechanic.
Mr. Gittman worked numerous odd jobs until he was hired by Hannum's Harley Davidson in 1959. He was employed with them for 58 years and during those years, he was sent to Harley Davidson's school for training. Mr. Gittman was the longest honorary member of the Blue Knights PA X. Motorcycle Club. He and his wife of 60 years enjoyed cycling so much that they have traveled through all 48 Contiguous states, some of them even twice. Predeceased by his brother Cole Gittman.

He is also survived by 16 Grandchildren, 15 Great-Grandchildren, Sisters Roberta Smethurst, Betty (Richard) Roy, Carole Gittman,. Sister-in-law: Linda Schneebele, many nieces, nephews and loving friends.
Funeral Service: Wednesday, January 3rd, 2018 at 12:00 Noon at the Minshall Shropshire-Bleyler Funeral Home, Middletown (Rte. #352) & Knowlton Rds., Middletown Twp. Media, PA 19063.
Visitation: Wednesday, January 3rd, 2018 from 9:00 AM to 11:45 AM at the funeral home.
Interment: Immediately following at Longwood Gardens Cemetery, Kennett Square, PA.
