Obituary of Evelyn S. Stillman
Evelyn Sarah Fritch Stillman, of Middletown, died on Saturday October 9 at Riddle Village, just ten days short of her 100th birthday. Born on October 19, 1910 in New York City, she was the daughter of Franklin Whited and Sally Rebekah (Mildenburg) Fritch. In her early years she lived in Berks County, southeastern Delaware County, and the Fairmount section of Philadelphia. Through her adult life she lived in various Delaware County communities, primarily Folsom, Wallingford, and Brookhaven.
Although her education ended early with training at the Fleischer Vocational School for Girls, she and her husband were graduates of the Philadelphia School of the Bible (now merged into Philadelphia Biblical University). For many years she was very active in the worship and teaching ministries of First Baptist Church of Collingdale. More recently she was a major participant in starting the Helping Hands ministry at Sandy Cove Bible Conference in Northeast MD. She was a long time member of The Gideons Auxiliary.
When her now deceased husband William started the business of automobile repairing in Prospect Park - now Stillman Volvo of West Chester - she joined in the tasks of administration and bookkeeping.
Mrs Stillman was preceded in death by her husband William A., four sisters and one brother. She is survived by her children Dr. William E. (Doris) Stillman of West Chester, Eloise S. (Dr. Carl) Wisneski of Upper Providence, and Nancy L. (William) Bingman of Thornton. In addition she leaves eleven grandchildren, thirty four great grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren.
