Obituary of Donald J. Roes

Donald J. Roes, age 87, of Nether Providence Twp., PA passed away on Thursday, November 8, 2018.  Donald was born in Upper Darby, PA., to the late Donald C. and Mary (Dawson) Roes.  He was very proud of his Scottish ancestry.  As an Auto Mechanic, he worked for 36 years for the Firestone organization.  In later years, he enjoyed his retirement and especially his Tuesday lunch with high school friends. Donald loved sports and during his high school years, he ran track and played football, basketball, baseball, and participated in American Legion baseball. After his school years, Donald was proud to have served in the U.S. Army with the 73rd Engineers in the Korean War from 1952 to 1954. He also enjoyed serving as an Eagle Scout. In his personal time he loved to swim; read about history, especially natural history; and listen to classical and jazz music. Donald also enjoyed gardening, drawing and painting.  He often used his engineering skills to create "things with other things" as well as take on repair and renovation projects.  Donald loved the time he spent with his family at home as well as the Jersey shore.

Funeral Service:  Friday, November 16, 2018 at 10:00 AM at the Minshall Shropshire-Bleyler Funeral Home, Ltd., Middletown (Rte. #352) & Knowlton Rds., Middletown Twp., Media, PA 19063.

Visitation:  Friday, November 16, 2018 after 9:00 AM at the funeral home.

Interment:  Mt. Hope Cemetery, Aston, PA.
