Obituary of Vincent J. Long, Sr.

Vincent J. Long, Sr., “Poppa Long” age 68, of Upland, PA, died Friday, August 23, 2019 at Riddle Memorial Hospital.  Vincent was born in Chester, PA.  He was a US Army Veteran, serving in 101^st Airborne Division.

Vincent was a member of the Upland Athletic Club, where he coached football.  He enjoyed gardening, particularly planting flowers. Poppa Long was enthusiastic about decorating his home during the Christmas holiday along with his family. A man devoted strongly to his faith and his family, he will be dearly missed.

Son of the late John C. and Mary (McKniff) Long, Sr., father of the late Shawn P. Long, Sr., brother of the late James, John, Fredrick, William, Robert Long, Marjorie King, Sarah Evans and great-grandfather of the late Jayson Thompson.

Survivors:

Wife of 47 Years: Joanne (Kirby) Long, Sr.

Daughter: Barbara Ann Phillips

Son: Vincent J. Long, Jr.

Brothers: Thomas and Edward Long

Sisters: Mary Kefalas and Clara Wannyn

Grandchildren: Jacquelyn, Carissa, Shawn, Jr., Vincent III, Joshua, Jordana, Cameron and John.

Great-Grandchildren: Molly, Sofia and Rocky

Also survived by many nieces and nephews and he dearly loved.

Visitation: Tuesday, August 27^th from 6:00-8:00PM and Wednesday, August 28th from 9:30-10:30AM at the Minshall Shropshire-Bleyler Funeral Home, Ltd., Middletown (Rte. #352) & Knowlton Rds., Middletown Twp., Media, PA 19063.

Funeral Service: Wednesday, August 28^th at 10:30AM at the funeral home.

Interment: Private.
