Obituary of Thomas R. Miller, Jr.


                                       Born 1/18/1918 and Died 11/8/2019

   Thomas R Miller Jr was born in Chester Pennsylvania, graduated from Chester High School, and married his high school sweetheart Elsie May Clements and stayed married 69 years until her death in 2011. For over 50 years they resided in Swarthmore PA. Tom was employed by first the Chester Brick Yard and later by Pennsylvania Industrial Chemical Corp, PICCO, rising to area supervisor before his entrance into WW11. He became a medic in the 313th Artillery serving in Italy in both combat and later post war occupation. Returning home after the war, he rejoined PICCO, spent 14 years in Penn State night school to obtain a degree in Chemical Engineering rising to the position of Plant Manager and when PICCO was assumed by Hercules Inc. he became director of personnel for several of their chemical plants. Tom was active in the Boy Scouts of America to include Camping Chairman of the William Penn District. Throughout his life he raised and enjoyed several dogs, especially German Shepherds, and enjoyed many hours of fresh water fishing, duck and goose hunting, and golf. He had a large vegetable garden for many years sharing produce with much of the neighborhood. He is survived by a son Thomas R Miller 3rd, a daughter in law Patricia K Miller and two grandchildren Deirdra M Miller and Thomas A Miller.

 

   Services are private for immediate family only and in place of flowers those wishing are asked to make a donation to their local A. S. P. C. A. in his memory.
