Obituary of Muriel E. Schultz
Muriel E. (Thomas) Schultz
Age 90, died on April 4, 2021 at Rose Court in Glen Mills, PA. A longtime resident of Aston, PA, she and her husband moved to Maris Grove in recent years. She was born in Kutztown, PA, to the late Charles and Anna (Stein) Thomas. She grew up in Morton and graduated from Springfield High School.
After high school, she went to work as a clerk typist at John M. Powers Insurance Agency in Philadelphia. She eventually went to work for the Penn-Delco School District as a secretary and retired in 1992 after more than 25 years there.
A kind, caring person who loved her family, she provided care and help when needed throughout the years. She loved singing and was a 50+ year member of Mt. Hope UMC in Aston where she was active in the church choir and Joy Singers. Muriel was active in the Sun Valley Band and Chorale Association when her children were in school, and as a volunteer at Riddle Hospital for several years after retiring. After moving to Maris Grove, she participated in the chorus there. She will be remembered as an extraordinary baker of Christmas cookies. She produced and gifted so many in her little kitchen every year that they were measured in pounds rather than dozens.
Predeceased by her husband of 67 years, John F. ‘Jack’ Schultz; she is survived by their children: Deborah (Mark) Bucci and Steven (Diane) Schultz; grandchildren: Jason Bucci (Rebecca), Chris Bucci (Teresa), Matthew Schultz, and Nick Schultz; four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Also survived by sisters: Eunice Malloy and Arlene ‘Ena’ Mamienski; sister-in-law: Danielle Thomas. Predeceased by brothers: Malcolm Thomas, Sr., Robert ‘Gus’ Thomas, and Ronald ‘Butch’ Thomas.
Services will be held on April 23, 2021 and will be private due to Covid precautions. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Mt. Hope UMC General Fund, 4020 Concord Rd., Aston, PA 19014 or Maris Grove Resident Care Fund, 200 Maris Grove Way, Glen Mills, PA 19342.
The family would like to express its love and gratefulness to Rose Court Personal Care and Willow Tree Hospice staffs for their care and concern for both our parents through the years.
