Obituary of Gail A. Lehner

 

Gail A. Lehner MSN, APRN,BC AHN-BC, age 71, passed into the arms of her Savior on August 18th, 2021, at her home surrounded by loved ones. Gail had many professional achievements in her lifetime.  In 1970 she graduated from Hahnemann Hospital School of Nursing, in 1978 she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Villanova University. She continued her education at Neumann College and graduated in 1999 with her Master of Science in Nursing.

In addition to her education Gail received licensure and certifications as a Certified Holistic Nurse, Clinical Nurse Specialist, Adult Psychiatric Mental Health, Board Certified, Reiki Master and a Registered Professional Nurse. She spent the majority of her nursing career within the Crozer Chester Medical Center working as a staff nurse in coronary care, adult in-patient psychiatric care, adult nurse therapist and a clinical nurse specialist in adult mental health.

Gail shared her vast knowledge with her beloved students as a faculty member of Immaculata University where she developed and taught curriculum integrating spirituality into nursing practice. Immaculata received the Excellence in Holistic Nursing Education Award in 2011 and Gail was an integral part of that curriculum and accepted the award as a representative of the University. She also taught at Neumann University as a visiting professor in the pastoral care and counseling program. She enjoyed teaching and cultivating solid relationships with her students. In 2002, Gail opened a private practice in psychotherapy and consultation where she helped numerous patients until her retirement.

Her favorite pastime was spending hours cultivating and growing flowers, plants and herbs in her beautiful home gardens. Her garden has been compared to Longwood Gardens. She enjoyed walking and hiking at local arboretums, parks and trails. She was a lifelong member and participant of Philadelphia Girls Rowing Club. Gail loved the seashore as well.

Gail, a lifelong Brookhaven resident, is the daughter of the late John and Florence Lehner. She is survived by family and her many wonderful friends that she treasured immensely.
