Obituary of Doris Hulton Moody

Doris Hulton Moody, age 98, of Belleville, IL, formerly of Upland and Parkside, PA, died Thursday, August 25, 2022.  Doris was born September 3, 1923 and was a graduate of Eddystone High School.

Doris was a long time employee at Sun Ship, Inc., in Chester, PA. After retiring from Sun Ship, she volunteered and then worked at Crozer Chester Medical Center in the Human Resources Department.

Doris was a member of the Upland Baptist Church, where she was active in Sunday school, Women’s Circles, and youth groups.  Her hobbies included knitting and crocheting, reading and travel. She also enjoyed Sudoku and Scrabble and had a friendly competition with her son-in-law Paul to see who could collect the most “bingos.”

Doris lived for many years with her daughter Janice and son-in-law Paul Curlett and accompanied them on various Air Force moves all over the United States. Her favorite place was Alaska. She also traveled to Italy and Switzerland with family members.

Volunteering her time and talents was especially important to Doris. She often helped out at the thrift stores on base. Through the Family Support Center, many gift baskets for families who recently welcomed a new baby contained one of her handmade blankets. She also made cushions for shelter cats.

Wife of the late Earl K. Moody, daughter of the late Amelia Hulton, sister of the late Mildred Hulton, Niece of the late Eva Sidler and Earl R. Sidler II.
