Obituary of Marian P. Laufer
Marian Louise (Nee Parkes) Laufer, age 88, died on Tuesday, September 27, 2022 at Riddle Memorial Hospital. Born in Upland, PA, Marian was a longtime Middletown Township Resident.
She was a graduate of Ridley Park High School. She then went to nursing school at Delaware Hospital where she earned her Diploma R.N. Marian also had degrees from West Chester University, BA, Villanova University, MS, St. Joseph’s University, MA and Nova Southeastern University, Doctorate in Education. She was also certified as a school nurse and was a certified nurse administrator. Early in her career, Marian held nursing positions: Industrial Nurse at Sun Oil Company, Family Practice office nurse, part-time school nurse, and part-time nursing clinical adjunct faculty.
In 1963 when Riddle Hospital opened, Marian began her legacy at Riddle as an Emergency Room Nurse, Nursing Supervisor, Director of Nursing and Vice President of Nursing, which she retired from in 2003 after 40 years at Riddle.
After retirement, Marian went on to be a Professor at Neumann University, where she taught in the Adult Leadership Graduate Program.
In her free time, Marian taught piano lessons to many children in her community. She was a pianist in her church for more than 70 years. She was a member of the Media Church of the Nazarene. Marian also enjoyed vacationing in Cape May, NJ.
Daughter of the late Verriel E. and Elsie M. (Nuttall) Parkes, Wife of the late John W. “Tiny” Laufer; Sister of the late Verriel L. Parkes.

Also survived by grandchildren, Lauren (Chris) Vernon, Emily Laufer, Natalie and Noah Hummel.
