Obituary of Betty J. Tully-Walz

Betty Jane Tully-Walz (nee Carr) was born on 19 January 1931 and passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on 4 March 2023, following a short illness.  She was the daughter of Frank P. Carr, Jr and Margueretta Carr (nee Ramos) and was raised in Springfield (DelCo), PA.  She graduated from Springfield High School in 1948 and from there she went on to work at the General Electric Company in Philadelphia, PA.  It was there that she met her first husband James (Jim) F Tully. Betty and Jim settled in Media, PA and it was there that they raised their family.  She was a frequent volunteer at St Francis de Sales parish and school. Betty worked at Penncrest High School for many years and was active as a volunteer at St Francis de Sales parish in Lenni, PA.  Once retired from Penncrest HS, she served as the Vice Chair of the Cultural Arts Forum at Neumann University. She conducted the annual Fashion Show to raising funds for the school.

Betty loved to garden, sew, cook, and travel. She planted well over 200 azaleas on their property and made every curtain in the house. She was a champion Bridge player at Maris Grove, Glen Mills, PA where she and her second husband Charles Walz lived for many years. 

Betty is survived by her children James Edward Tully (Patricia Tully nee Carroll) and Pamela Tully Carr (Daniel).  Betty’s surviving grandchildren are Robert Tully Carr (Ava), Timothy Holdridge Carr, James Charles Tully (Corrie), Diana Tully Krick (James) and great grandchildren Oliva Ann Tully and James Robert Tully.  She was preceded in death by her parents Margaretta and Frank Carr, her first husband, James F. Tully, her second husband, Charles Walz, her first child, Debra Lynn Shedrick (Donald), her sisters Peggy Day and Shirley Brandon and her brother Frank P Carr. 

Visitation: Friday, May 12th from 10:00-10:45AM at the Church of St. Francis De Sales, 35 New Rd., Aston, PA 19014.

Funeral Mass: Friday, May 12th at 11:00AM at the Church of St. Francis De Sales.

Interment: St. Francis De Sales Church Cemetery.
