Obituary of Helen M. Brown

Helen M. (Kilrain) Brown, 67, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, March 21, 2023, surrounded by family after a two-year battle with cancer. Born in Philadelphia to the late James J. and Catherine (Mullen) Kilrain, Helen was married for 46 years to Gary Brown, Sr. and the proud mother of Gary Brown, Jr. Helen worked at the American College of Physicians as a payroll administrator, retiring in 2011 after 25 years of service to spend more time with family and friends.

Helen was a member of Moose Lodge 847 (Claymont, DE) where she earned degrees from the College of Regents and Academy of Friendship. She was also a member of the Lenni VFW. Helen relentlessly supported and contributed to the American Cancer Society supporting many events such as the ACS Bike-A-Thon and Gary Jr.’s Hilly Philly Fundraiser. She worked hard to fundraise and get support from local businesses for both events.

One of Helen’s favorite day trips included surf fishing off the beaches in Delaware and New Jersey. Helen was a beautiful woman inside and out, with beautiful blue eyes and a beautiful smile with a personality and a good heart to match. Her light will shine on through everyone who knew her. She was a cherished wife, devoted mother, and dear friend to many.

Helen leaves behind her brothers, Joe and Bernard, her sister, Regina, and many nieces, and nephews. She is also survived by her extended Brown family including Paula and Peggy who were a constant with Helen to her last day. 

Visitation: Saturday, April 1st from 12:30PM  to 2:15PM at the Minshall Shropshire-Bleyler Funeral Home, Middletown (Rte. #352) & Knowlton Rds., Middletown Twp., Media, PA 19063.

Funeral Service: Saturday, April 1st at 2:30PM at the funeral home.

Interment: Private.
