Obituary of Vernon E. Currier
Vernon Elwyn Currier, Vern, Poppie, Slim, Mr. Basketball, age 89, of Middletown Twp., Media, PA, formerly of Island Pond, VT, died on Thursday, March 30, 2023, at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born June 22, 1933 and graduated with a B.S. from University of Vermont, and an M.S. from University of Washington. Vern was a Civil Engineer at Boeing Vertol for 32 years, where he worked to design helicopters for the US Military.
He was a Veteran of the United States Air Force
Vern was devoted to Gayle, his wife of 65 years, his 5 children, 6 grandchildren, and their spouses. Family was the most important part of his life. He was there for every event from baptisms to sporting events, to recitals, to weddings, and more.
He was an avid sports fan, growing up playing baseball and basketball. He later mastered tennis, bowling, and golf. He loved the Boston Red Sox, Phillies, Eagles, Celtics, and Flyers.
Vern had many friends through work, church, bowling leagues, bridge and poker groups. He was known for his competitive spirit but most of all for his unflappable honesty, sound advice, and steadfast support.
His faith was shown through his example of love, patience, mercy, and grace and was an inspiration for all who knew him.
Son of the late Roland and Gladys Currier, brother to the late Vincent Currier and father of the late Brian Currier.

Daughters: Julie (Tony) Duca, Karen Currier, Andrea Currier (Tim Reed)
Son: Mark (Jenni) Currier
Grandchildren: Jamie (Tim) Barnett, Haley Burke, Katelyn Cox, Carolyn Cox, Abigayle Currier, Jack Currier
Sister: Janice (Kenneth) Rousseau
Visitation: Tuesday, April 4th, from 10:00-10:45AM at the Minshall Shropshire-Bleyler Funeral Home, Middletown (Rte. #352) & Knowlton Rds., Middletown Twp., Media, PA, 19063.
Funeral Service followed by Military Honors: Tuesday, April 4th at 11:00AM at the funeral home.
Interment: Private.
