Obituary of Harold J. Johnson
Harold “Sonny” Johnson, age 87, died peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, May 3, 2023. He was a 57 year resident of Wilmington, Delaware and formerly a resident of Upland, PA. Sonny was born in Chester, PA. He was a graduate of Eddystone High School. Sonny was employed with Scott Paper/Kimberly Clark, retiring in 1997.
Sonny was a devoted U.S. Army Veteran, continuing to be active and a member of the American Legion Post #871, American Legion Post #951, Ogden, PA, the VFW Post #4845 Essington, PA and Del Vets Post #1.
Sonny was an active Member of Upland Fire Company, where he served as Honorary Chief Engineer for many years caring and maintaining the apparatus. He was also a life member of Claymont Fire Company. He was a member of the Delaware Valley Fire Chiefs Association, the Fraternal Order of Eagles Eerie #74 and Shamrock Judges Association.
In his younger years, he enjoyed small game hunting. Sonny could always be found on the dance floor and never turned down an opportunity to do the jitterbug. Sonny enjoyed life and could always make you smile. He was devoted to his family, and he always enjoyed good company of friends.
Husband of 53 years to the late Helen “Faye” (Westbrook) Johnson; Brother to the late Estelle Keeth, Margaret Watson, Helen Van Demark and Benjamin Johnson; Son to the late Elmer and Hanna Johnson.

Granddaughters: Stephanie L. (the late James) Hallman, Shelly (Dominic) Johnson
Great-Granddaughter: Charlotte Faye Hallman
Sisters: Jean Montello and Mary Wholahan
Devoted Friend: Joyce Carter

Visitation: Saturday, May 13th from 9:00-10:45AM at the Minshall Shropshire-Bleyler Funeral Home, Middletown (Rte. #352) & Knowlton Rds., Middletown Twp., Media, PA 19063.
Funeral Service: Saturday, May 13th at 11:00AM at the funeral home.
Interment with Military Honors: Upland Baptist Churchyard.
