Obituary of Ruth A. Shepard

Ruth ADDA (nee MacFarland) Shepard of Middletown Twp., PA passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, December 9, 2011 at Naamans Creek Country Manor. She was 95. Born January 7, 1916, in Aston, PA, to the late Samuel and Bertha MacFarland. She was the youngest of six. Ruth graduated from Chester High School in 1935 before marrying the great love of her life, the late Edward F. "Dutch" Shepard. Together they shared three daughters, Ruth Anne, Doris and Nancy. Ruth loved spending time with her family, reading the bible, cooking, and sewing. She was a member of Upland Baptist Church, where she also participated in the Women's Missionary Union efforts there. Ruth also enjoyed receiving greeting cards on the special occasions in her life as well as indulging in her most favorite treat, chocolate. Ruth was a loving wife, mother and Nana who will be forever missed. SURVIVORS Daughters: Ruth Anne Layton of Cockeysville, Maryland, Doris Bireley of Sharon Hill, PA and Nancy J. Scallan of Middletown Twp., PA, with whom she resided for thirteen years. Nine Grandchildren Fourteen Great-Grandchildren
